The CWU-45, a recognisable flight silhouette
With its olive nylon, patches and rib-knit cuffs, the TGJ 2141 draws on the visual codes of American flight jackets. Its inspiration is the CWU, short for “Cold Weather Uniform”, a jacket designed for pilots and crew members facing cold temperatures and high-altitude conditions. The regular fit and rib-knit hem create a short, structured silhouette that is easy to wear with jeans or cargo trousers.
Functional pockets and well-chosen details
The two press-stud cargo pockets sit on the front without interrupting the jacket’s clean lines. On the left sleeve, the zipped utility pocket echoes a characteristic detail of flight jackets and keeps small items close at hand. Rib-knit cuffs and waistband keep the openings close to the body, while the central fastening opens with a sturdy propeller-shaped zip pull, a signature detail of the model.
The shell is made of nylon and the lining of polyester. Vintage-looking leather trims add a contrast in texture to the nylon, while the patches give the jacket its Top Gun identity. Inside, a nomination certificate printed on the lining extends this aviation-inspired universe through a detail visible only when the jacket is open.
Top Gun, from aviation to the wardrobe
The name Top Gun refers to the US Navy’s fighter weapons school, founded in 1969. The Top Gun brand was established in 1996 around this heritage and the imagery of flight jackets. The CWU-45 TGJ 2141 translates these references into a ready-to-wear piece: its patches, olive colour and sleeve pocket evoke aviation clothing, without compromising on a construction designed for everyday wear.
