Camel, the signature shade of suede

This version of the Quynn is cut from camel suede lambskin — the color that best highlights this type of leather. The sanded nap creates variations of light and dark depending on its direction, and these nuances are much more visible on a warm, mid-tone shade than on a light or dark one. The material thus comes alive: the surface changes appearance with movement, and two areas of the same garment never have exactly the same intensity.

A construction reduced to the bare essentials

Round neckline without a collar, centered straight zip, short fitted cut: there is nothing else. This pared-back design is essential for keeping the material visible — a stand-up collar, flap pockets, or quilting would create competing shadows and textures that would conceal the work of the suede. The jacket is therefore viewed as a surface, and this is a design choice that few leather pieces fully embrace.

A piece that warms up a neutral outfit

Camel pairs with ecru, white, brown, denim, and black, adding a warm touch to an otherwise understated outfit. Worn over a dress or high-waisted trousers, the cropped jacket reveals the waist and lengthens the leg. The lambskin, supple and lightweight, allows the piece to drape properly from the very first wear, without the stiffness sometimes associated with thicker suedes. Nothing interrupts the surface, allowing the material to take over the entire garment.

Two generations, one craft

Founded in 1972 by Jürgen Raberg, the company now known as Mauritius was built exclusively around leather clothing. It was known as Gipsy until its fiftieth anniversary, which led to the change of name. Katrin and Christian Raberg, his children, manage the company and continue its international development. Today, the company offers several lines, including 2.0 by Mauritius and deercraft, dedicated to larger sizes.
