Off-white is one of the most demanding colors there is for a hide: it masks neither surface irregularities, nor variations in shade between two panels, nor approximate stitching repairs. The Rylo embraces this constraint throughout the garment, with a light-colored surface interrupted only by the central zip and two zipped pockets. In a wardrobe where leather jackets are almost always black or brown, it is the color that defines the piece, well before its construction.

A jersey hood that softens the overall look

The removable light gray jersey hood introduces a matte, supple material that contrasts with the surface of the leather and shifts the jacket toward everyday wear. The contrast in materials matters just as much as the contrast in colors: it prevents ecru leather from looking too formal and makes the piece easy to wear on a Saturday afternoon.

A light-colored piece to treat as a statement

An ecru leather jacket does not blend into an outfit; it structures it: everything else benefits from staying dark or neutral—raw denim, black trousers, gray knitwear. Mauritius is the direct heir to Raberg Ledermoden, founded in 1972 by Jürgen Raberg, which later became Gipsy. The change to the Mauritius name, decided for the company's fiftieth anniversary, unified collections that had previously been distributed among several signatures. Katrin and Christian Raberg, the second generation, run a company that has never produced anything other than leather clothing. Its designs are recognizable by their clean lines, with the focus placed on the cut and finishing rather than ornamentation.
