A soft leather backpack designed for everyday use

The Rick stands out with its buckle flap, which gives the backpack a structured look, while the main compartment also closes with a zip to keep your belongings securely contained. Made from Cow-Lavato cowhide leather, it has a soft, smooth feel and a washed appearance, here in a warm cognac shade. Its generous capacity and 39 × 26 × 13 cm dimensions make it a suitable companion for workdays or school days, as well as day trips.

The adjustable shoulder straps let you adapt the fit to your build; the padded back improves comfort when the backpack is loaded. Weighing approximately one kilogram when empty, the Rick is designed to carry everyday essentials without compromising on a leather construction. Its understated style and cognac shade work equally well with a casual outfit or a more formal wardrobe, for both men and women.

Compartments to organise your belongings

Inside, a 20 cm zipped pocket and a dedicated phone pocket keep small items separate from the main contents. The laptop or tablet compartment measures 32 × 25 cm: check your device’s dimensions, including its case, to make sure it fits comfortably. The main compartment leaves room for the other essentials you need throughout the day.

A zipped pocket on the back keeps items you want to store separately close at hand, such as a wallet or keys. The buckle flap and zip closure of the main compartment complement each other: the former gives the backpack its classic design, while the zip directly closes the opening.

Cow-Lavato leather and its washed appearance

BEAR’s Cow-Lavato line highlights cowhide leather with a washed finish. On the Rick, its smooth, supple appearance avoids the rigid look sometimes associated with leather backpacks, while the cognac colour highlights the material’s natural variations. The backpack is therefore designed for everyday use, whether you take it to the office, to class or on an outing.

BEAR, a family history centred around leather

BEAR’s history is rooted in a family tradition of leather goods: Willem-Jan Beernink’s grandparents were already selling shoelaces and hides intended for making soles in 1936, before leather bags became part of their business. Willem-Jan and his father founded Bear Design in 1993. He still takes part in the design and purchasing alongside his sister Annelies.
