Product Description

Rib-knit trims seal the flight jacket at all three openings

The MMAirpilot follows the principle that defines the flight jacket: ribbed knit at the collar, cuffs and hem, which fits the garment snugly against the body wherever air could get in. The effect is twofold. Thermally, air can no longer circulate beneath the jacket. Visually, the volume gathers at the centre and shortens the silhouette, explaining the recognisable flight jacket shape — broad through the chest and narrower everywhere else.

A sleeve pocket inherited from flight suits

On the arm, a small zipped pocket recalls the pencil holder on pilot flight suits, where it carried documents and navigation instruments. Today, it remains useful for anything you want to keep within reach without rummaging around. On the front, two buttoned flap pockets work differently from zipped pockets: they open with one movement, even with gloved hands, but need to be closed again. Embroidered patches on the chest and sleeves extend the garment's aviation heritage.

Cognac on a traditionally heavy shape

The flight jacket is usually made from thick hides that take weeks of wear to mould to the body. In soft, lightweight lambskin, this piece drapes naturally from the very first outing and keeps the weight on the shoulders to a minimum — a noticeable difference on such a structured shape. Cognac concentrates the colour on the chest, as the rib-knit trims gather the volume at the centre. This combination of a relaxed shape and lightweight leather creates a piece you can wear all day without feeling it on your shoulders.

Fifty years of leather under two names

Mauritius is the direct successor to Raberg Ledermoden, founded in 1972 by Jürgen Raberg and later renamed Gipsy. The transition to the Mauritius name, decided for the company's fiftieth anniversary, unified collections previously distributed across several labels. Katrin and Christian Raberg, the second generation, run a company that has never produced anything other than leather clothing. Its designs are recognisable by their clean lines, with the focus on cut and finishing rather than ornamentation.

Caring for your leather

This product is made of lambskin. It is the most supple skin among the different types of leather. It is fine, soft and light, and is very easy to maintain!

The only maintenance necessary is waterproofing the material, this should be planned before the first wear of your product and regularly following the frequency with which you wear the product (if you wear it every day in rainy weather, you can repeat it up to once every one to two weeks).

You can also use a delicate neutral cream or color to nourish and revive your leather.

In all cases, remember to always test the application of a maintenance product on a non-visible surface of your product. Certain finishes or leather treatments may react differently from one product to another.
