Cognac makes the construction more visible

On black leather, the lines of a biker jacket are barely perceptible; on cognac leather, they stand out. The diagonal line of the asymmetrical zipper, the line of the notched lapels, the angle of the chest zippers and the placement of the lower pockets are clearly visible on a medium shade. The Paige makes full use of this: it is a complete construction, with four fastenings on the front, and the color highlights it instead of concealing it beneath a dark solid color.

Three pockets, all zipped

A chest zipper set at an angle to follow the line of the front, and two lower hand-level zipped pockets: nothing opens with a flap. This is the original logic of the biker jacket, where an open pocket would empty while riding, and it remains the most practical argument for this construction. The metal zipper pulls also create a rhythm across the front, echoing the diagonal of the main zipper.

A warm shade on a cropped cut

Cognac works with anything cool or neutral — raw denim, grey, off-white, black — and becomes the warm focal point of an outfit. The length stops at the waist and leaves the silhouette free below, working just as well with high-waisted jeans as with a dress. The soft, lightweight lambskin allows the lapels to fold naturally instead of remaining stiff, and the jacket falls properly from the very first outing. The angled chest zippers follow the diagonal of the front rather than contradicting it.

The Mauritius signature

Behind the name Mauritius is a company founded in 1972 by Jürgen Raberg, specialising in leather clothing from the very beginning. Known as Gipsy for most of its history, it changed its signature for its fiftieth anniversary. Today, it is run by Katrin and Christian Raberg and distributes its collections in more than fifty countries.
