A two-way zipper, useful on a long garment

A jacket that falls over the hips presents a practical problem: when closed, it restricts walking and sitting. The Taja’s two-way zipper solves this — you can open the bottom without undoing the top, freeing the leg while keeping the torso covered. It is a technical detail you do not notice in a shop window, yet it changes everyday use. Combined with the drawstring waist, it allows you to adjust the garment according to what you are doing, not just according to what you are wearing underneath.

A nylon hood, chosen for its fabric

The hood is made of nylon rather than jersey, and this choice is functional: nylon dries quickly and does not become heavy in the rain, whereas knit fabric absorbs water and takes hours to dry. It can be completely detached, leaving a clean jacket fastened up to the collar. On a garment designed for autumn and winter, this is the right trade-off, even if it feels less soft against the neck than jersey.

An intermediate length, the most versatile

The jacket falls over the hips: long enough to protect the lower back, but not long enough to restrict the silhouette like a long garment. This is the length that works with the widest range of outfits, from trousers to skirts. The soft, lightweight lambskin is decisive here — on this surface, a thicker hide would create a weight you would feel after a few hours, whereas lambskin remains comfortable all day. Two zipped pockets complete the front and are accessible with the jacket closed.

Mauritius, a leather brand

The company was founded in 1972 under the name Raberg Ledermoden by Jürgen Raberg, focusing on leather clothing. After several decades under the name Gipsy, it adopted the name Mauritius for its 50th anniversary, bringing its collections together under a single signature.
