Button fastening that keeps the front clean

The Palesa fastens with buttons rather than a zip, which radically changes the way the garment reads. A zip creates a continuous metallic line that cuts the torso in two; tone-on-tone buttons, on the other hand, leave the leather surface almost untouched, marked only by dots in the same colour. The jacket thus loses any reference to a zipped jacket and moves closer to classic clothing, that of work jackets and overshirts.

Two flap pockets, discreet on black leather

The pockets are placed on the lower section and covered with a flap. On black leather, only their topstitching outlines them: they occupy the front without breaking it up. The overall design — tone-on-tone buttons, soft shirt collar, contrasting-free flaps — creates a jacket that can be worn in a professional setting as well as throughout the week. The supple, lightweight lambskin preserves the fluidity expected of a shirt-style construction, without the stiffness that thick leather would impose on a button fastening.

Mauritius, a leather house

The company was founded in 1972 under the name Raberg Ledermoden by Jürgen Raberg, focusing on leather clothing. After decades under the name Gipsy, it adopted the name Mauritius for its fiftieth anniversary, bringing its collections together under a single signature. It is run by Katrin and Christian Raberg and is present in more than fifty countries. Its designs remain deliberately understated, built around the cut rather than apparent detailing.
