A delivery driver cut, designed for movement

The SP540 takes on the short silhouette of delivery driver jackets worn by truck drivers in the mid-20th century. Its straight zip fastening runs down the center of a clean front, beneath an open shirt collar. The length ends at the hips, allowing ease of movement and giving the jacket a compact line that is easy to wear over a T-shirt or shirt.

The two square lower pockets, outlined with topstitched welt trim, anchor the model in utilitarian workwear. A zipped chest pocket with a chain pull introduces a more distinctive detail. At the back, side buckles allow the waist to be tightened and the jacket’s line to be adjusted.

A patina that is already present and will continue to evolve

The black cowhide receives an aged treatment that gives it a naturally worn appearance from the outset. The teacore finish reveals a brown tone beneath the black surface when the leather develops marks through wear: the contrast gradually emerges on areas subject to friction and enriches the patina over time. Every crease and mark therefore contributes to the evolving appearance of the leather.

This thick material gives the jacket a strong presence. The khaki polyester lining makes it easier to slip on over clothing, while a vertical interior pocket holds small personal belongings.

A utilitarian classic revisited by Schott

The SP540 is part of the collection inspired by the world of Bruce Springsteen and the film Deliver Me from Nowhere. Its design also looks to the square-pocket jackets of the 1950s, created to accompany drivers in their everyday lives. Here, the simplicity of the central fastening and shirt collar lets the aged material set the tone: black leather with an already assertive character, without the more elaborate codes of a jacket with an asymmetrical fastening.

Schott, a New York story since 1913

Brothers Irving and Jack Schott founded their company in New York in 1913. Initially dedicated to rainwear, it later turned to leather and outerwear. In 1928, Irving Schott designed a motorcycle jacket with an asymmetrical fastening that would leave a lasting mark on the history of American jackets. Made in the United States, the SP540 is part of this long tradition of functional clothing, with a silhouette drawn from another facet of utilitarian workwear.
